This Sydney renovation began with a phone call between best friends — and a sense of potential too good to ignore. The existing home featured exterior arches, a north-facing yard and a layout that, while dark and maze-like, offered a solid foundation for transformation. Owners Justine and Andy Blake were after a low-maintenance, lock-up-and-leave base that felt calm, layered and lived-in. Somewhere to return to between their travels to Bali.
The design journey evolved through Covid disruptions, a collaborative team that brought the vision to life. With internal planning by Lowi Interiors and full materials and styling direction by Studio Haus Co., the home was reimagined from the inside out. Walls were opened, the kitchen relocated, and generous living zones established — all with warmth and scale in mind. The dining room, once an overlooked space, became a standout moment of drama and texture.
Every detail was considered — from the perfect dining chairs (found after a year of searching) to the carefully balanced palette of brushed metal, raw stone, and soft natural textures. The result is a soulful, serene family home. For both quiet moments and joyful gatherings.
